A Slip and Fall Accident Aboard the USS New York Becomes the Ships First Casualty

A tourist's slip and fall accident aboard the USS New York floats the interest of Manhattan slip and fall attorney David Perecman.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - November 16, 2009 - On November 10, just two days after the USS New York docked near the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, a woman injured herself in a slip and fall accident. According to the New York Post, the tourist fell eight feet into a boat described as an "amphibious assault vehicle". She took the plunge while she was touring the ship.

"It's a shame this slip and fall accident occurred only days after the commissioning of this ship, a much anticipated event. However, as exemplified by the USS New York, slip and fall attorneys know accidents can't always be predicted," said David Perecman, a highly experienced New York slip and fall attorney with a practice in Manhattan.

During the week spent docked in New York City, the ship was open for public and private visiting. This was the only reported accident aboard. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

"Most likely an inquiry will now be made by a New York slip and fall attorney. Questions will be asked. Was reasonable care taken in the management and maintenance of the ship's premises? Was there a way to avoid exposing tourists to an unreasonable risk of harm? Even the government has responsibilities for the well-being of their guests," commented Perecman.
