$30 MILLION

51-year-old construction worker fell 44 stories to his death

The Perecman Firm secured a $29,000,000 landmark settlement for the family of a 51-year-old construction worker who fell 44 stories while working on a high-rise construction project in New York City. The fall resulted in fatal injuries and remains the firm’s largest settlement to date. The wrongful death lawsuit alleged violations of New York Labor Law §240(1), commonly known as the Scaffold Law, which requires proper fall protection for workers exposed to elevation-related hazards. The case centered on the failure to provide adequate safety devices to protect against the risk of a catastrophic fall at a major NYC construction site.
The case resolved for $29 million following litigation led by Adam Hurwitz and Steven Dorfman, under the direction of the firm’s founder, David Perecman. The recovery provided long-term financial security for the worker’s surviving family members and reinforced the importance of strict compliance with New York construction safety laws.

$19 MILLION

Construction worker struck by a falling steel beam during crane operations at a Manhattan construction site

The Perecman Firm secured a $19,000,000 settlement for a construction worker who was struck by a falling steel beam during crane operations at a Manhattan job site. The beam fell from several stories above after rigging equipment failed while the load was being hoisted, causing severe injuries.
The lawsuit alleged violations of New York Labor Law §§ 240(1) and 241(6), including the failure to provide proper protection during steel erection and hoisting operations. The case involved disputed issues concerning crane supervision, lift direction, and the adequacy of the rigging equipment used to secure the load.
The case resolved for $19 million following litigation led by Steven Dorfman, with David Perecman and Zach Perecman. The recovery provided substantial compensation for the worker’s medical treatment, lost earnings, and long-term impact.

A Law Firm Shouldn't Settle for Less in Order To Avoid a Trial

What happens if early settlement negotiations fail to secure the right compensation for an injured client? What if it becomes obvious that a case might just be beyond your experience level or outside your practice area? In these instances, in order to avoid a less than stellar result for your client and lost revenue for your firm, the best idea is to refer the case to a firm that will use passionate representation to maximize the outcome of the case.

We invest the time and resources required to fully understand every client’s case, and pursue every angle toward full compensation. Our skilled trial attorneys are prepared to take cases to the jury if that’s what’s required. We fight relentlessly for our clients.
