Result: $2.3 Million Settlement for Painter Injured in Fall From Ladder
The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C., secured a $2,350,000 settlement for a worker who was injured in a fall from a ladder.
The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C., represented a client who sustained physical and economic injury.
The plaintiff asserted that, in the morning of Feb. 16, 2007, he was injured during a renovation of a building. The plaintiff asserted that he was standing on a ladder belonging to his employer, Eli’s Painting, and was painting the ceiling of a stairwell when the ladder slipped out from under him and he fell and suffered injuries to his hip.
The plaintiff filed his lawsuits on April 30, 2007 alleging common law negligence and violations of Labor Law section 200, 240(1) and 241(6).
One of the defendants filed a third-party complaint against two of the other defendants.
On Oct. 16, 2009 the court granted the plaintiff’s motion for summary judgment on his section 240(1) claim.
On June 20, 2010 the jury rendered a verdict in favor of the defendants.
On Nov. 15, 2010 the parties reached a settlement in the amount of $ 2,350,000.
