Settlement recovered for the family of a 51-year-old construction worker who fell 44 stories to his death.

The Perecman Firm secured a $29,000,000 landmark settlement for the family of a 51-year-old construction worker who fell 44 stories while working on a high-rise construction project in New York City. The fall resulted in fatal injuries and remains the firm’s largest settlement to date. The wrongful death lawsuit alleged violations of New York Labor Law §240(1), commonly known as the Scaffold Law, which requires proper fall protection for workers exposed to elevation-related hazards. The case centered on the failure to provide adequate safety devices to protect against the risk of a catastrophic fall at a major NYC construction site.

The case resolved for $29 million following litigation led by Adam Hurwitz and Steven Dorfman, under the direction of the firm’s founder, David Perecman. The recovery provided long-term financial security for the worker’s surviving family members and reinforced the importance of strict compliance with New York construction safety laws.
