David Perecman

One of New York City’s Leading Personal Injury Attorneys

For over 30 years, David H. Perecman has distinguished himself as one of the leading personal injury lawyers in New York City, championing all types of personal injury cases including construction accidents, premises accidents, automobile accidents, and medical malpractice, along with employment discrimination, false arrest, and civil rights cases. He has won hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients over the course of his career, and has led The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C. to be recognized by the highly coveted and competitive U.S. News and World Report’s Best Law Firms in America for the past four years in a row.

Founding The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C.

From the beginning of his legal career, Mr. Perecman has proven himself to be a skilled and tenacious New York City personal injury lawyer and trial lawyer. He founded what eventually became The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C. in 1983 after winning a landmark $600,000 verdict against the now-defunct department store Gimbels for falsely detaining an elderly woman when an antitheft device set off the alarm. Since then, he has taken dozens of personal injury cases to verdict and settled many more mid-trial.

In every year since 2005, Mr. Perecman has been published in the New York Law Journal’s Top Verdicts and Settlements list, culminating this past year in another landmark achievement of his career: a $9.9 million settlement for a construction worker listed as the highest construction accident settlement in New York State and the second highest settlement overall. He has become one of the top personal injury lawyers in New York City by combining extensive and relentless preparation with first-class litigation skills in order to achieve winning results.

He starts planning his strategy as soon as a case comes in the door. Whether before a judge or a jury, he spares no expense in employing first-rate experts and cutting-edge technology to great persuasive effect. The personal injury verdicts he obtains are often double, triple, and or even many multiples of the settlement offers made by the defense prior to and during trial. “Every case has its weaknesses,” Mr. Perecman says. “It is the job of a good personal injury lawyer to turn those weaknesses in strengths or to blow them out of the water.”

His successes brought him to the limelight recently in his representation of a woman who sued Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy of the Soprano’s) for assault and more recently for his role in the search and representation of “Avonte” Oquendo, the 14 year old autistic child who was allowed to wander out of school and was eventually found deceased in the East River.
