National Safety Month 2019

National Safety Month

June is National Safety Month, and our team at The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C., want to do our part in sharing resources and information to help our clients and communities stay healthy, happy, and safe.

As it does each year, the National Safety Council designates each week in June with a specific safety topic. This year’s topics are:

  • Week 1: Hazard Recognition
  • Week 2: Slips, Trips and Falls
  • Week 3: Fatigue
  • Week 4: Impairment

Week 1: Hazard Recognition

There are hazards all around us, and whether you’re responsible for addressing them for the safety of others or at risk of being injured by dangerous conditions you encounter, learning how to spot hazards is crucial.

The NSC provides helpful information about learning to see hazards in the home, hazards that can’t be seen, and hazards on worksites:

Week 2: Slips, Trips and Falls

Slip and fall accidents can happen at home, work, and just about anywhere else – but risks are elevated when potential dangers go unaddressed. Staying vigilant is important, but prevention, as they say, is worth a pound of cure.

Take a look at these resources for slip, trip, and fall prevention tips:

Week 3: Fatigue

No one performs their best when they’re fatigued, but reduced performance is a minor setback in comparison to increased risks of accidents. That’s true whether you’re driving a motor vehicle, working in any environment, or simply going about your day.

Week 4: Impairment

Impairment has wreaked havoc on our roads and causes numerous workplace accidents, but it’s more than driving drunk or going back to work after drinking at lunch. Whether intoxicated by alcohol, under the influence of drugs or medications, or impaired by fatigue, no level of impairment is safe.

As a firm that’s been providing legal representation to injured victims, workers, and families across NYC since 1983, we take safety to heart. Unfortunately, even the most safety-conscious individuals can fall victim to accidents and injuries caused by the negligence of others. You can find more safety-related resources on our blog.
