From May 7 through May 11, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is promoting the National Safety Stand-Down to raise awareness of fall hazards across the United States in an effort to cut down on, and potentially one day completely eliminate, fall injuries and deaths.
This voluntary event gives employers the chance to talk with their workers about safety. Any workplace where falls pose a risk can hold a stand-down to reinforce the importance of preventing falls and focus on fall hazards to keep an eye out for. On worksites where there are no fall risks, employers can still use this time to talk to their workers about the company’s goals and safety policies, ways to stay safe on the job, and other hazards they may face throughout the day.
You can learn more about Safety Stand-Downs on OSHA’s website. You can also learn more about general construction and accident FAQs by visiting the FAQ section on the Perecman Firm’s website, where we break down and answer a wide range of questions.
