"One of the best decisions I had ever made"

A customer shopping at a Mobil Mart in the Bronx was injured on Sunday, February 19 after a minivan crashed into the store. The entire event was captured on camera.
Surveillance cameras from inside the store show the victim bringing items selected from the refrigerated section at the back of the store to the counter before walking between the two shelves. The white minivan bursts through the front of the store and slams the shelves together, sandwiching the customer and pushing the entire display against the back wall.
He was able to escape the debris within seconds, but emerged doubled over and clutching his side. Medics arrived at the scene to treat his injuries before taking him to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
Another video showed that the driver of the minivan, a 65-year-old woman, remained in her vehicle immediately after the crash while her passengers exited in order to shoo away passersby and onlookers. She was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for injuries. Officials report that she was not seriously hurt.
The owner of the Mobil Mart was still assessing the damage to his store on Monday:
"I have no idea how much this is going to cost. We're gonna have to call professionals for this," he said. "So far we are confused, we don't know what is going on. We don't see this every day, you know."
