Members of the Perecman Firm participated in Operation Santa this year, taking 20 letters sent in by children and purchasing gifts for those in need.
Operation Santa was officially started back in 1912 when Postmaster General Frank Hitchcock gave official authorization to local Postmasters to invite citizens and post office employees to answer the mountains of letters to Santa the post office received every year.
Perecman Firm employees Mithana Dzuherovic and Jessy Jerez put the finishing touches on our presents from Santa.
The Postal Service extended that invitation to community groups, corporations, and charitable organizations in the 1940s to help respond the ever-growing number of letters. 105 years later, the tradition remains strong.
Those who choose to participate provide the children with responses signed by Santa, along with a gift in certain situations. You can learn more about the tradition on the United States Postal Service’s website here.
Our team here at the Perecman Firm is excited to have the opportunity to give back to our community whenever possible, and spreading the wonder of Santa Claus to a new generation of excited children is perfect for this time of year. While spreading holiday cheer isn’t exactly a year-round activity, fighting for the rights of those in need is.
