Perecman Firm Joined Sunday's NYC Pride Parade

Last Sunday, June 26, members of our team at The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C. marched in the NYC Pride Parade alongside the Sisters in the Brotherhood, also known as the NYC Women’s Committee for the District Council of Carpenters.

The Sisters in the Brotherhood is an organization that supports female members by helping them receive craft training and leadership skills, by advocating for women’s issues, and by being mentors for new and potential members. Since the first woman, Margaret Ellings, was initiated into the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) in 1935, women have become active and strong members in the organization.

The first local Sisters in the Brotherhood committee was formed in 1998, and ever since then women have worked to find common ground with each other through training sessions and at networking events. Since the first committee was formed, the group has expanded to dozens of committees that cover an array of activities.

Those of us who attended the parade had a great time, and were proud to sponsor the Sisters in the Brotherhood’s shirts for the parade.
