How Is Workers' Compensation Funded?

How Is Workers' Compensation Funded?

According to the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board, workers’ comp insurance is funded by employers. Employees cannot be required by their employers to pay for or even contribute to the cost of this compensation.

Cash benefits that are paid weekly to injured workers who qualify for workers’ compensation are paid by the employer’s insurance carrier.

The Workers’ Compensation Board of New York doesn’t fund workers’ compensation, but rather processes all the on-the-job injury or illness claims.

Injured or sick workers may only gain access to the money in the workers’ compensation fund if their ailment was work-related.

Where you injured at the workplace? The New York City workers’ compensation lawyers at The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C. are here for you! We understand that filing for workers’ comp benefits can be complicated, especially when you’re dealing with an injury or illness.

Our law firm exists to help injured workers through the claims process, and in some cases, we even discover areas where additional compensation could be warranted! If you or someone you love was injured on the job, get in touch with our law firm today for a free review of your case.
