Two people were injured when their SUV crashed into four parked cars, flipped over and careened on its passenger side on Cumberland Street in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn early Sunday morning CBS NY.
A little before 2:00 a.m., the driver of a gray Dodge SUV ran a red light at the intersection of Cumberland Street and Lafayette Avenue hitting a car that was traveling perpendicular down Lafayette. The impact caused the SUV to slam into several parked cars and hauled a Range Rover into a tree pinning a crushed, motorcycle under its right back wheel.
The crash was so forceful that all the vehicles were piled up on top of one another and pushed onto the sidewalk.
“The driver was bleeding and obviously dazed. I helped get the driver out,” said a witness. “One of the neighbors grabbed a ladder and helped him climb out.”
The couple, a 29 year old male who was the driver of the SVU and his passenger, a 35 year old woman were rushed to New York Methodist Hospital with serious body trauma and they were listed in stable condition.
According to police, no arrests have been made, but an investigation is undergoing and the driver could possibly face criminal charges.
