7 Year Old Boy Killed in the Bronx When SUV Crashes Into Restaurant

A 7 year old boy was killed and two others injured when an SUV crashed into a restaurant Thursday evening in the Pelham Bay neighborhood in the Bronx NBC NY.

A Mercedes Benz SUV reversed-slammed into Kennedy’s Chicken & Sandwiches restaurant on Westchester Avenue and hit a man, and two children who were sitting at a booth near the window.

The driver who was later identified as 73 year old Kwasi Oduro, sat in the vehicle for about 30 seconds while people banged on the windows screaming that there were children underneath his truck. Oduro never got out his SUV and tried to escape but not before witnesses chased after him and wrote down his license plate number.

Witnesses stated they feared for the worst as they rushed to help the children. The scene was chaotic and they had to pull the children out from under the broken tables and chairs.

“I was almost bawling myself,” said Giovanni Martinez. “I have a son myself, it was crazy to see.”

The victims were taken to Jacobi Medical Center where the boy identified as Ethan Villavicencio was pronounced dead. The 34 year old man and 5 year old girl are in stable condition.

Oduro was later apprehended and has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death and leaving the scene of an accident causing injury, according to police.
