The Most Ticketed Cars In America

A study conducted by the car insurance comparison-shopping website revealed which vehiclesare most likely to get their driver a speeding ticket. The list may be surprising for some as the determining factor for whether or not a car is a magnet for speeding tickets does not always have to do with horsepower, according to CNN News (10.1.14).

For the study, looked at data from 526 models and more than 557,000 recent customers to determine which vehicles received the most traffic violations.

The Subaru WRX topped the list as the most-ticketed car overall. The study found one in three drivers of the turbocharged sport-compact had a recent traffic violation.

When it comes to speeding, many people do not consider it to be a serious offense. They typically do not consider the danger they put other people in by exceeding the posted speed limit either. Interestingly, in a study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nearly half of drivers surveyed said that speeding was a problem, and one in five drivers surveyed admitted, “I try to get where I am going as fast as I can.”

Lawyers understand that speeding is considered aggressive and reckless driving. Choosing to speed is a decision that can have major consequences. Speeding is one of the leading contributors to highway fatalities and car wrecks. Speeding-related deaths nationwide account for nearly a third of all traffic deaths each year, killing close to 10,000 people, said the NHTSA.

A number of different issues arise as the speed at which a driver is traveling increases. Speeding drivers are unable to steer safely around curves or objects in the roadway. A faster rate of speed also extends the distance necessary to bring the car to a stop. Speeding drivers are also unable to react as quickly to road signage, changes in traffic or a dangerous situation As a result, an injury suffered by someone in a speeding accident is typically severe. In addition, there may be a large amount of property damage.

People who are injured in an accident caused by a speeding driver, may be eligible to recover money in a civil lawsuit.
