40-year-old Cyclist Killed in Accident

Not all accidents are fender-benders that can be solved with the exchange of personal information and a call to the insurance company. Some of them have far worse consequences, including serious injury, and even death. These carry costs that insurance simply can’t cover. This is where legal compensation comes in. Not only does it get the money desperately needed for recovery, it also makes sure the responsible party is held responsible.

A 40-year-old cyclist died in Queens after being run over by a Mercedes Benz van, according to police.

The cyclist was riding on Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park around 9:30 at night when he sideswiped the van on the passenger side. The impact knocked him under the wheels of the van. According to authorities, the van driver stopped and got out to see what happened, then got back into his vehicle and drove away without reporting the accident.

A witness saw the accident and went to help, but found the victim unresponsive. None of his efforts to communicate worked.

The victim was taken to the hospital and declared to be in critical condition. He died of his injuries a short time later.

Police believe the hit-and-run vehicle may have been a party bus.
