In a video from The New York Daily News, Attorney David Perecman speaks on behalf of Avonte Oquendo's family, confirming that the remains found last week in Queens were the remains of the missing 14-year-old. On October 4th, 2013, the autistic teenager went missing after leaving his special-needs school while unsupervised. This sparked a city-wide search, involving investigating hundreds of subway tunnels due to the young man's interest in trains. Attorney Perecman thanks the city of New York for rallying together, explaining that the combined efforts of the police, press, and numerous citizens were "monumental."
