Avonte Oquendo Last Seen Walking by Security Desk, Reports Daily News

An autistic young man, missing for the last two months, was last seen walking past a security desk according to the school safety report. The NY Daily News reports that Avonte Oquendo, a 14-year-old from Queens, strolled past the security officer at his school and left the campus without supervision or intervention. In addition, local police were not notified that Avonte was missing for over an hour. He has been missing since that day–October 4th, 2013. The young man has since been the focus of a city-wide search, made difficult by Avonte’s developmental obstacles. Attorney David Perecman has taken action against the city for negligence on behalf of Vanessa Fontaine, Avonte’s mother.
