Repo Man Taken for Ride of His Life – on the Car Hood

An angered Staten Island woman extracts her own revenge on a repo man in New York, and personal injury lawyer David Perecman says its lucky for them both, it wasn't murder.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - October 19, 2009 - To some she's a folk hero, to New York personal injury lawyers, she is someone who could have been facing charges for murder.

Staten Island resident Helen Walker allegedly took revenge on a repo man who was trying to take her car. As he was doing his job repossessing her vehicle, Walker jumped into the car, started it, and slammed the vehicle into the victim, causing him to fly onto the hood. She then sped for approximately a mile as the victim held on.

When police stopped the car, the repo man was still clinging to the car. He suffered only minor injuries.

"This isn't something we see everyday in New York. Staten Island personal injury lawyers agree she's very lucky her victim had an incredible grip," added Perecman, "or she'd go from facing seven years in jail to possibly a lifetime."

She was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
