New York personal injury attorney David Perecman uses an unexpected near-miss incident at Kennedy Airport to highlight a rare, yet real danger, to air passengers.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK-- August 3, 2009 - A lost small-town pilot from Virginia nearly caused a major personal injury disaster at Kennedy Airport when he started to bring his single-engine plane down for a landing, directly in the path of a Boeing 747.
"I consider it a miracle that no one was killed," said New York personal injury attorney David Perecman.
According to The New York Post, the pilot of the plane, John Prendergast, couldn't figure out where on earth Republic Airport in Farmingdale, New York was located. He made several turns near Kennedy before he finally figured out where he was.
No charges were filed but the FAA is investigating the incident. Most often, non-tragic "near misses" do not show up in the news.
"Accidents like this more than likely happen more frequently than one would like to imagine, and not only in New York," personal injury attorney and frequent flyer, David Perecman said.
While the majority of pilots are competent, all it takes is one to cause a major, tragic accident that will keep New York personal injury attorneys working overtime.
