Peter D. Rigelhaupt joined The Perecman Firm in 2009, bringing to the firm his vast experience garnered over his more than twenty year career as a litigator. For approximately ten years prior to joining The Perecman Firm, Mr. Rigelhaupt defended attorneys from inception of suit through trial in all types of legal malpractice actions.

In addition to making him an extremely well-rounded attorney, this experience gives him an intimate knowledge of the defense bar and insurance industry and a unique insight into that side of the practice, thus making Mr. Rigelhaupt a very effective negotiator. Although equally skilled in the courtroom trying cases, Mr. Rigelhaupt is perhaps best known for his writing skills and vast knowledge of the law, and heads the firm's motion and appellate practice group. Recently, Mr. Rigelhaupt's opposition to a motion made by the defendants helped convince the defendants to pay $6,400,000 in settlement prior to their motion being decided.

Mr. Rigelhaupt regularly appears before the First and Second Departments of the Appellate Division and has almost fifty reported cases to his credit, as well as countless successes on motions for summary judgment.

Mr. Rigelhaupt is a member of the New York State Bar Association and New York State Trial Lawyer's Association. He is married with two children.
